Ministers have agreed that the Education Funding Agency (EFA) should have an independent expert advisory group from April 2012. This new group's remit will focus on the provision of advice and challenge to the EFA’s chief executive on the agency’s operations. It will not have a governance role in the way that the Partnerships for Schools and Young People's Learning Agency boards do. The group's members will be invited to join by the chief executive, Peter Lauener, and will be expected to be able to reflect the revenue and capital sides of the education sector. Les Walton, currently chair of the YPLA board, has agreed to act as the group's interim chair until July 2012. More information on the group will be available nearer to April.
