House of Commons Report Stage and Third Reading
The Education Bill had its Report Stage and Third Reading on Wednesday 11 May 2011. During the Report Stage, there were debates on Academies, admissions and fair access, careers guidance and post-16 education and training. The Bill was amended with two new clauses:
- to enable PRU management committees to have greater control over their finances; and
- to treat boarding Academies on par with maintained boarding schools.
There were also ten further Government amendments. An explanation can be found in the associated resources section of this page or by reading the debate in Hansard.
The Bill passed Third Reading with a Government majority of 101 and passes to the House of Lords.
