Welcome to the Department's workbook on equality analyses. This workbook will help you to look at what you are doing, or planning to do, and help you to think about what that might mean for equalities. It will help you to keep a record of your thinking, and of your decisions.
The workbook has been updated to reflect the Equality Act 2010 and the implications of the recent judicial review decision on Building Schools for the Future.
We encourage you to look at the workbook and think about equality implications as early in the policy process as you can. By doing this, you can do your analysis as part of your general policy development and use it to help shape a better policy. The workbook will help you take a transparent and consistent approach. It is not however a required approach. If you prefer to record your thinking and your decisions in other ways, so long as you show due regard to equality, that is fine.
