‘The importance of teaching’ white paper outlines the steps we propose to take to improve education in England.

The ‘case for change’ document gives evidence to back up the proposals in the white paper.

The impact assessment examines the costs and benefits of the white paper’s policies.

The equalities impact assessment looks into the effect that the proposals set out in the white paper will have on groups with relevant protected characteristics.

The relevant protected characteristics, identified in the Equality Act 2010, include:

  • pregnancy and maternity
  • race
  • religion or belief
  • sex and sexual orientation
