Sure Start, Early Years and Childcare Grant (SSEYCG) and Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC): Capital guidance

The updated capital guidance is designed to assist local authorities (LAs) to plan and develop their Sure Start, Early Years and Childcare Grant (SSEYCG) and Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) capital grant, to meet the needs of children and their families within the local community.

The guidance serves as a reference tool, providing vital information on finance policy and processes and on relevant policy issues. It also acts as a signpost to other key information, such as the Memorandum of Grant.

This guidance should be circulated and used by LA personnel and other partners involved in the delivery of buildings and facilities for children’s services, where SSEYCG and AHDC capital funding are being used. This capital guidance is aimed at:

• directors of children’s services
• Sure Start Children’s Centres managers and co-ordinators
• heads of Early Years
• school heads
• nursery providers and childminders.

This guidance will also be useful for project managers, architects, finance officers, asset management personnel, and delivery agents.
