The Government published discussion papers in July 2012 seeking views on two important aspects of the care and adoption system: contact between birth parents and children in care or adopted children, and the placement of sibling groups for adoption.
The summary of feedback received and the Government’s response is available for download from this page.
The report presents the feedback by key themes and sets out the Government’s response alongside each of the proposals for change as set out in the two call for views discussion papers.
Call for views: launched: England - 20 July 2012 (Wales - 4 September 2012)
Consultation closed: England - 31 August 2012 (Wales - 5 October 2012)
Further information on the Government’s adoption reform may be found in the adoption section.
A podcast and transcript of Sir Martin Narey’s views on both of these issues is also available.
The call for views exercise and government response relate to the Children and Families Bill 2013.
