Areas that are developing Community Budgets for troubled families can draw on a wide range of specialist training and expertise to help them develop and implement their plans. This is supplemented by a wider programme of sector support being developed by the Children’s Improvement Board and the Local Government Group.

To date, the Department has funded:

  • A wide range of national voluntary organisations to provide specialist training and advice to help local planners, commissioners and service providers develop services for troubled families with complex and multiple needs.
  • The Children’s Workforce Development Council to support the national roll-out of an accredited qualification for parent and family workers - The Level 4 Award : Work with Parents (Intense support to families with multiple and complex needs).

A number of other government departments and national organisations have also agreed to provide support and advice.
