Support is available to help you monitor the effectiveness of family intervention services. This includes the use of a national information system managed by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen). Official statistics are published annually, showing at local and national level how many families have been supported, and how effective the services have been.
The NatCen system has now been simplified and improved to make it easier and quicker to complete, with better summary statistics and the removal of the review stage information.
While there is no legal requirement to provide the information, this is the only national dataset that measures the impact of family intervention services at national and local level. Using a national dataset can demonstrate good practice and performance in your area. It also provides consistency and credibility of evidence.
The system is being used to monitor progress towards the Prime Minister’s commitment to turn around the lives of troubled families by the end of this Parliament.
