AHDC is jointly delivered by the Department and the Department of Health (DH).</p> <p> <em><a target="_blank" href="//media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/pdf/a/aiming high for disabled children best practice to common practice.pdf">AHDC: Best practice to common practice</a></em> provides an update on the programme's key developments since its launch. The AHDC conference 'Transforming best practice to common practice held', on Wednesday 3 June 2009, highlighted the progress made as a result of the Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) programme. The conference materials are available from the 'conference materials' page.</p> <h1> Delivering the programme</h1> <p> The Government wants disabled children to be a priority, both nationally and locally: a commitment confirmed in the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/PublicationsPolicyAndGuidance/DH_110107">NHS operating framework</a>, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/PublicationsPolicyAndGuidance/DH_094400">Healthy lives, brighter futures – The strategy for children and young people’s health</a> and in the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dfes.gov.uk/publications/childrensplan/">Children's Plan</a>.</p> <p> Supported by substantial new funding and measures designed to make the system work better, the Government is assisting professionals, managers and children's services commissioners to deliver the programme.</p> <p> <object data="http://www.youtube.com/v/FsRUyBy0iBs" style="width: 500px; height: 301px" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FsRUyBy0iBs" /></object></p> <p>  </p> <p> The <a target="_blank" href="//media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/doc/a/ae-ao/aiming high for disabled children - resources list.doc">AHDC resource list</a> includes publications and tools that can help local areas put the programme into practice.
