This section contains the latest news, press notices and information on A/AS levels.

The Government wants students and parents to be confident that all qualifications are valued and robust, and that they measure up against the most rigorous qualifications in the world. The Government has committed to stepping back from the development of A levels, giving universities – who have the strongest interest in maintaining standards in A levels – the greatest say over their future direction.

The Secretary of State has written to Ofqual to outline future changes to A levels. More information can be found in the Secretary of State's letters of 22 January and 14 March to the Ofqual Chief Regulator setting out the changes to A levels.

Further information about A Levels and GCSEs can be found on the Gov.uk website.

Ofqual, the independent regulator, is responsible for monitoring qualification standards. Visit the Ofqual website for more information.
