The Incredible Years School Age (IYSA) - BASIC and ADVANCE

Incredible Years School Age (IYSA) BASIC is for any parent with a child between the age of six and 12, including parents who have concerns about a child with a diagnosed behavioural problem, such as oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Parents attend 12 weekly group sessions where they learn strategies for interacting positively with their child and discouraging unwanted behaviour. IYSA BASIC can be combined with Incredible Years ADVANCE for families with more complex issues, including parent anger management and mental health issues. The ADVANCE programme requires that families attend up to 10 additional sessions.

IYSA BASIC has preliminary evidence of increasing parents’ competence, decreasing parental depression and improving children’s behaviour.
