Parent and Child Links

Parent and child fields link relevant open and closed records together, for state maintained schools. Records will be linked together when a) two or more schools are amalgamating to form a new school (e.g. Infant and Junior to a Primary) or b) where a school has closed and another opened in its place. The relevant parent or child school is identified by the appropriate 6 digit Unique Reference Number (URN). The closed school (or schools) becomes the 'parent' part of the link; the open school (or schools) becomes the child.

Any queries of Parent and Child links in the Independent schools sector need to be directed to the Independent Education and Boarding Team with the DfE on 01325 391179
