The ISB board usually meets six times each year in January, March, May, July, September and November.

Extraordinary meetings, or longer meetings to discuss particular issues, are convened by agreement with the chair and board members.

The board is drawn from key areas across the Education, Skills and Children's Services (ESCS) system and has an independent chair. There is more information about the board members available from the board member pages.

A secretariat supports the ISB and acts as the planning and project management function. The Technical Support Service (TSS) is delivered as a managed service by an external provider, to be a 'one stop shop' for advice and information on standards.
