In-service and returning teachers can apply for subject knowledge enhancement (SKE) courses in maths, physics, chemistry or modern languages – subjects with a particular demand for secondary teachers. Around 10,000 former teachers return to the profession each year, bringing with them valuable skills and experience.

Returning teachers

Following a successful pilot in 2011/12, SKE courses for in-service and returning teachers have been expanded for 2012/13.

Returners include those who have been raising a family, taken early retirement, or gained experience in a different job.

If you would like to discuss returning to the teaching profession, please call 0800 085 0971 to speak to one of our advisers.
