The School Experience Programme (SEP) and Teaching Advocate Programme (TAP) can help returning teachers to re-familiarise themselves with the profession and see how things have changed in their time away from teaching.
To benefit from the support available for returners, you must first register with the Return to Teaching (RTT) Programme. Currently, this support is only available to teachers who wish to return to teach mathematics, chemistry, physics and modern foreign languages (MFL) within a state school.
The School Experience Programme (SEP)
Due to an overwhelming demand amongst returning teachers, there is currently no availability on the SEP for returners this academic year.
The RTT Programme offered teachers who wished to re-enter the classroom to teach mathematics, chemistry, physics or MFL the opportunity to gain some up-to-date experience within a school through the SEP. If you are interested in gaining some up-to-date school experience, you may want to contact local schools to see if you can organise your own voluntary school experience.
The Teaching Advocate Programme (TAP)
The TAP gives returners the opportunity to talk honestly and objectively with an experienced serving teacher about life in a school. If you have specific questions or concerns about re-entering the classroom, Teaching Advocates are now available to share their experience with you (subject to availability).
