The cost of undertaking the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) varies depending on the licensee that you choose. A limited number of scholarships are available to successful applicants of NPQH from the English state-maintained sector.
Licensees will be able to provide full details of their costs, but as a guide, the cost of NPQH is £2,434.
Those who apply from independent and non-maintained schools or schools from outside England will also need to pay £1,500 for their final assessment.
Many of our licensees offer group discounts and various packages – contact your chosen licensee to find out more.
Scholarships are available to support applicants from the state-maintained sector to contribute towards the costs of NPQH. Full and part scholarships are awarded depending on your school size:

To access a scholarship you must first apply for NPQH through your chosen licensee. Licensees each have a set number of scholarships to award to successful applicants, and are required to prioritise recruitment in their own regions. You will be informed by your licensee whether or not you have been awarded a scholarship.
If you are based outside England and wish to undertake NPQH, and you are able to travel to England for the face-to-face aspects of the programme (estimated at around 20 to 25 days throughout the course), please contact your chosen licensee for costs.
Organisations outside England that are able to recruit a cohort of 24 candidates and have the capacity to support the administration of the programme in partnership with us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
