Who is NPQH for?
The National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) is for aspiring headteachers and principals.
You should be highly motivated to become a headteacher, no more than 12–18 months from applying for headship posts and have the full support of your headteacher or line manager. You should then be ready to take up a headship as soon as you graduate.
Before applying, you should spend some time discussing your readiness for headship with your headteacher or line manager.
"Having taken part in the outstanding NPQH training provided by a National College licensee I was more than prepared for my headteacher interview. I approached the entire application process with a different mindset, even when visiting the school I knew what questions to ask. I feel that the whole experience has opened my mind to new ways of thinking about leadership. I now look forward to continuing the link with my licensee as I move into headship and work towards my MA."
