Social research aims to provide high quality evidence and advice for Ministers and officials to inform policy development and delivery.
Much of the Department's social research and evaluation is commissioned through competitive tendering. Between April 2010 and March 2011, we spent £24.7m on social research and evaluation projects and published 145 reports and briefs.
