Effective Pre-School, Primary and Secondary Education Project (EPPSE 3-14) - Influences on students' dispositions in Key Stage 3: Exploring enjoyment of school, popularity, anxiety, citizenship values and academic self-concepts in Year 9
This research brief reports on students’ dispositions when they were age 14 (Year 9) in six main areas: ‘enjoyment of school’, ‘academic self concept’ (English and maths), ‘popularity’, ‘citizenship values’ and ‘anxiety’. It examines how these dispositions have changed during Key Stage 3 and the relationships between dispositions and a range of individual student, family, home, pre-school, primary school and secondary school measures.

Barriers and facilitators to pro-social behaviour among young people: a review of existing evidence
This report presents an overview of current evidence on pro-social behaviour among young people aged 16-19, drawing together a review of existing literature and analysis of existing secondary data. The main objectives of the research were: to describe overall levels and patterns of engagement in pro-social activity amongst young people, together with differences by socio-demographic characteristics; and to identify underlying motivations for engaging in pro-social activities among young people, as well as potential facilitators and barriers.

The independent evaluation of the pilot of the linked pair of GCSEs in mathematics - First interim report
This report is the second of seven formative evaluation reports on the pilot of the linked pair of GCSEs in mathematics. The report focuses on the centres and students who participated and engaged in the pilot, on reported changes to teaching and learning caused by the pilot qualifications and their assessment, and on the extent to which these changes parallel those caused by the introduction of the new single GCSE in mathematics.

Class size and education in England evidence report
This report gives an overview of the existing evidence base on class size and education in England. In particular, it considers how class sizes have changed over time; the impact of the increase in birth rate on pupil numbers and how this could affect the teacher requirement and class sizes; and the impact of class size on educational outcomes. The report also considers the impact of the 1998 School Standards and Framework Act.
