DCSF: How Fathers can be Better Recognised and Supported through DCSF Policy Research Information

DescriptionThis research investigates how far current policies recognise fathers and influence Local Authorities (LAs) / family services to work with them. The barriers faced by fathers and how to support them at a local level was also covered as part of the research. The study comprised a review of DCSF and its main partners policies relating to family services, a survey of LAs to examine how DCSF policy affects local engagement with fathers, and in-depth interviews with LA staff and 10 family services in 8 local authorities to explore barriers and enablers to engaging with fathers, the role of national and local policy and how national policy might better support fathers.
