DCSF: PE and Sport Survey 2008/09 Research Information
| Description | The main aim of the research was to contribute to a DCSF / DCMS PSA indicator, and for the first time, to measure the take-up of three hours of high-quality PE and out-of-hours school sport in a typical week. The research also sought to examine differences in levels of participation and provision between different school types, year groups and regions. Data was also collected on sports provision and participation in FE colleges. This sixth annual survey was conducted among schools in the School Sport Partnership and was the first one involving FE colleges. Fieldwork took place during May to July 2009 with 21,464 schools (99.8% response rate) and 352 FE colleges (98.9% response rate) participating. The majority of data collection was online, although a small number of schools submitted responses on paper. FE colleges were only given the option to submit data online. | |
