DCSF: Careers Coordinators in Schools Research Information

DescriptionThis research sought to gain insights into the qualifications, skills and role of careers co-ordinators. Additionally, it looked at establishing the level of potential interest in a new professional qualification and to generate guidance for Higher Education Institutions on the development of new / adaptation of existing provision. A review of current qualifications / provision for careers co-ordinators was carried out. In-depth qualitative case study visits to 18 schools involving interviews with senior leaders, teachers, careers co-ordinators and personal advisers / external guidance providers were undertaken. The research also involved a national survey with an achieved response of 1208 careers co-ordinators.
