School Workforce in England: Provisional Teacher Sickness Absence in 2003 and Teacher Ethnicity 2004

DescriptionThis SFR provides further information on the School Workforce in England, from the January 2004 survey of teachers in service and teacher vacancies. The sickness absence tables are as published in previous years. They include national and regional data on the number and percentage of teachers taking sick leave, the average number of days taken and the overall number of days taken. A table showing regional and national percentage distributions of teachers in England by ethnic group has been added to the SFR this year. Teacher ethnicity information was collected for the first time in January 2003 but not published until August 2003, as final data. This year provisional data are being released in May.
