School Workforce in England: Provisional Teacher Sickness Absence in 2004 and Teacher Ethnicity 2005

DescriptionThis Statistical First Release provides further information on the School Workforce in England, from the January 2005 survey of teachers in service and teacher vacancies. The sickness absence tables are as published in previous years. They include national and regional data on the number and percentage of teachers taking sick leave, the average number of days taken. A table showing regional and national percentage distributions of teachers in England by ethnic group is also included. Teacher ethnicity information was collected for the first time in January 2003. Provisional data for January 2005 will be included in this publication and should show an increase in response rates.
