Special Educational Needs in England: January 2006

DescriptionThis Statistical First Release brings together the information available on Special Educational Needs (SEN) and related information about special schools in England. It updates and supplements provisional 2006 figures published in the SFR "Pupil Characteristics and Class Sizes in Maintained Schools in England". Information is mainly drawn from two sources: the Annual Schools Census and SEN2 Survey. The SFR provides information on the incidence and placement of pupils with SEN together with analyses on the characteristics and attainment of pupils by their stage of SEN.

Revisions and Amendments
  • Revisions have been made to Table 5 - specifically the percentages of girls with statements of SEN by age. Numbers of pupils and overall totals remain unchanged.
