The latest national statistics on National Curriculum Assessments produced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families were released on 1st December 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics AuthorityUK Statistics Authority

DCSF: National Curriculum Assessments at Key Stage 2 in England 2008/09 (Revised)

DescriptionThis Statistical First Release (SFR) provides revised 2009 Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Assessment results for pupils in schools in England. The revised figures are based on data checked by schools prior to publication in the Primary School (Key Stage 2) Achievement and Attainment Tables. The SFR updates the provisional figures released in August in SFR 19/2009.

Figures at Local Authority and Government Office Region level are attached as additional information. School level data is available in the Primary School (Key Stage 2) Achievement and Attainment Tables.

The key points from the latest release are:

The percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 or above in the 2009 Key Stage 2 tests by subject are as follows:
  • English 80 per cent
  • Reading 86 per cent
  • Writing 68 per cent
  • Mathematics 79 per cent
  • Science 88 per cent

The percentage of pupils achieving Level 5 in the 2009 Key Stage 2 tests by subject are as follows:
  • English 29 per cent
  • Reading 47 per cent
  • Writing 20 per cent
  • Mathematics 35 per cent
  • Science 43 per cent
