DfE: Participation in Education, Training and Employment by 16-18 Year Olds in England

DescriptionThis is an update of SFR 18/2010 released in June 2010.

SFR 15/2011 on Participation in Education, Training and Employment by 16-18 Year Olds in England draws together information from the different post-16 learning options (School, FE colleges, Work-based Learning, Higher Education, etc.) to give a coherent and comprehensive picture of the participation of 16-18 year olds.

The SFR contains information on the percentages of 16, 17 and 18 year olds in Education and Training and those who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) for end 2009 (revising provisional figures released last year) and end 2010 (provisional). Key breakdowns are by age, gender, mode of study, type of learning, institution type (FE College, Schools, etc.), labour market status and highest qualification being studied.

Additional Information (including regional and Local Authority level data released 20 March 2012, along with underlying data released on 22 March 2012) are included as follows:
  • Additional tables showing national time series data running from 1985 to 2010, summarising some of the breakdowns presented in the main SFR document.
  • Additional tables showing participation in education and training for 16 and 17 year olds for end 2010 by Local Authority and region. These include breakdowns by age, mode and institution type and a time series back to 1994.
