Supporting documentation for CTF 12 has been issued and can be downloaded from this page. These include:

  • the full specification document for software suppliers;
  • a spreadsheet showing example XML output; and
  • CTF 12 schema (zipped).

The supporting documentation for CTF 12 was updated in January 2013 to give details of the data items required to be provided in a partial CTF for obtaining ULNs from the Learning Records Service (LRS) via s2s. These data items are:

  • UPN (unique pupil number)
  • surname
  • forename
  • date of birth
  • gender
  • postcode

And either:

  • PAON (primary addressable object name) and street and at least one of locality, town and administrative area; or
  • address line 1.

The LRS use a pupil’s postcode to check whether a ULN has previously been issued to a pupil and, if a postcode is not included in the CTF, the LRS will reject the CTF file with a return code of RC10 – Null Values. The data items listed above must be included to enable the CTF to be accepted by both s2s and LRS.
