The output specification for the Priority School Building Programme PFI projects sets out the design, works, services and performance requirements for each school. It comprises the facilities output specification and the services output specification.
The facilities output specification comprises the following sections:
- Generic design brief – the generic design requirements that apply to all schools
- School-specific design brief – the specific requirements of each individual school over and above the generic design requirements. For example, relating to specialism, curriculum, etc.
- Schedules of accommodation – these list the rooms and spaces required in each school, based on pupil numbers and the organisation and curriculum model preferred by the school
- Area data sheets – these identify the requirements for each room and space in the schedule of accommodation, including services (eg electrical outlets; water supplies); details of environmental performance requirements (eg in relation to lighting and ventilation); fittings, furniture and equipment; and ICT provision.
The services output specification sets out the generic facilities management brief for the provision of hard FM services to each school under the PSBP. Where necessary there is a school-specific FM section. However, it is unlikely to be required for all schools.
