The mathematics development programme for teachers (MDPT) ceased in July 2011.

MDPT enabled teachers without a maths degree or maths initial teacher training (ITT) specialism to teach mathematics more effectively.

For teachers who have successfully completed the programmes, the information below relates to the process for claiming and the eligibility criteria for the additional specialism incentive scheme.

Procedure for claiming financial incentive

Participants, schools and local authorities (LAs) must read the additional specialism incentive scheme guidance available in the associated resources section, which describes the eligibility criteria which must be met and also the process for claiming.

Notice for local authorities

LAs who have made incentive payments to participants' schools can claim reimbursement by completing and returning a claim form. LAs should not send participants' application forms to the Teaching Agency, but need to retain all application forms for this incentive (and related claims), as they may be subject to an audit at any time.

Note: LAs should use the pilot claim form for reimbursements for those participants who started the course before May 2009.
