Crossing the Threshold gives access to the pay scale for post-Threshold teachers (this is often called the Upper Pay Scale).

Threshold assessment in Round 12 (2011/12)

Threshold guidance and model request-for-assessment forms suitable for use in Round 12 (2011/12) are available here and we recommend their use. Teachers who choose not to do so should still provide all the information requested in the teacher's section of the form.

There is no national deadline for submitting Threshold assessment requests, however in order to be eligible for round 12: 

  • teachers who are covered by the 2006 Performance Management Regulations must submit their requests between 1 September 2011 and 31 October 2012
  • teachers employed in England who are not subject to the 2006 Performance Management Regulations must submit their requests between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012
  • teachers employed in Wales must submit their requests between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012.

You should liaise with your head teacher or service manager regarding any local arrangement for threshold.

There have not been any changes to the Threshold process for Round 12, so the Round 10 Threshold Guidance accessible through the link below will continue to be applicable in Round 12 as it has been for Round 11.
