The Teaching Advocate Programme (TAP) gives people considering a career in teaching the opportunity to get an insight into teachers' motivations, career choices, challenges and the rewards of day-to-day life in a classroom. It is for anyone participating in the Premier Plus programme and who wants to hear first-hand what it's like to be a teacher in today's schools.
Who are teaching advocates?
Teaching advocates are serving teachers who can talk honestly and objectively about their experiences of teaching. Their aim is to help applicants make an informed decision about whether teaching is the right career for them. They can share their knowledge on topics such as behaviour management, workload management, subject knowledge and the curriculum. Applicants can talk to a teaching advocate by phone or email, and sometimes face-to-face at TA events (subject to availability).
