The most recently published statistics provide a summary of test results in numeracy and literacy for the academic year 2011/12. 35,087 trainee teachers passed literacy and numeracy tests required to meet the standard between September 2011 and August 2012. The national results data tables for 2011/12 and previous years are available to download from this page.
Institution-specific results
Providers of initial teacher training (ITT) with more than five trainees in 2011/12 can access reports on the skills tests results of their own trainee cohorts via the providers' analysis website. They will also be able to access other providers' data. This data can be used to benchmark their trainees' performance against the national picture and also be taken into account when planning provision and support for trainees.
Notes on data tables
Figures are shown for the results of ITT trainees who were due to complete their initial teacher training in the academic year 2011/12 and who took the skills tests between September 2011 and August 2012.
Until 31 August 2012, trainees who did not pass the skills tests had unlimited opportunities to do so. As a result, totals for different categories in the data tables may vary as not all fields were mandatory at registration.
From 1 September 2012, the number of re-sits allowed was limited to two per subject. This applies to all skills test candidates. Previous unsuccessful attempts by trainees did not count towards this limit and the next test taken from 1 September 2012 was classified as their first attempt.
