The department is asking schools to share data on pupils who were:
- invited to attend summer schools
- and confirmed they planned to attend
- and attended
The data includes their unique pupil numbers (UPNs). Sharing this information is entirely voluntary and schools will need to have obtained parental consent before sharing the information with us.
The department will use the information solely for the purpose of research into summer schools. The information will be matched to pupil-level data we already hold. This will allow us to understand the profile of pupils who have benefited from the programme and undertake future research to consider the impact of summer schools on subsequent GCSE attainment.
Unique pupil numbers are classed as personal data and must be transferred securely. We are using the Key to Success website and all schools taking part in the programme will be contacted by the department in June to let them know that they can access the data collection tool. Schools will have until the end of September 2013 to share their pupil-level data.
The username and password for the Key to Success website should be the same as the school uses to access the COLLECT and School 2 School websites. If you are unable to identify the password for any of these sites, you can request a password reset from this page.
Thank you for participating in this exercise.
Schools can access more information about UPNs from this page.
