The 2014 Early years foundation stage (EYFS) handbook contains important information for local authorities, headteachers and all early years professionals about assessing children's attainment.
It includes information about how and why EYFS assessments should be carried out and guidance on how to complete an EYFS Profile; recording children's attainment; and making accurate and reliable judgements about EYFS attainment.
The handbook should be used alongside the exemplification materials and the EYFS 'Assessment and reporting arrangements' (ARA). The ARA will be published later in the autumn term.
This handbook has been developed to support practitioners in making accurate judgements about each child’s attainment. It should be used alongside the EYFS 'Assessment and reporting arrangements' document and the exemplification materials.
