Can I change my modified test order after the deadline?

Specific order requirements should be discussed with the relevant modified test agency before placing an order. If additional pupils arrive after the deadline or pupils leave your school, please contact the modified test helpline on 0300 303 3019 to discuss the impact of these changes on your order.

 How do schools order modified tests?

Schools can order modified tests on the NCA tools website.

Step 1: Log in to the NCA tools website

Step 2: Click on the 'Test orders' tab at the top of the page

Step 3: Select 'Modified tests' from the left-hand menu

Step 4: The modified tests for each level will then appear on the left-hand menu.

By selecting from this list you will be able to view all materials available for the relevant key stage or optional test year.

Step 5: Place your test order

  • Enter the number of pupils participating in each test and select 'Recalculate'

  • Please ensure you select the most appropriate test paper based on the materials the student uses in school on a daily basis.

  • Select 'Submit' to confirm your test order.

Step 6: Test order confirmation

  • Both the user who places or edits the test order and the headteacher will receive email confirmation of the order. Please check this confirmation to ensure you have ordered the correct quantities of test materials.

  • All modified test orders can be viewed or edited by revisiting the Test orders section of the NCA tools website.

Step 6: Log out

When you have completed your session, ensure you log out of the NCA tools website. To do this, select the ‘Log out’ option on the homepage. 

 What is a modified test?

A modified test is an adapted form of the standard test for use by pupils with either a visual or hearing impairment. Modified test materials are available for pupils with visual impairment or other special educational needs. Modified mental mathematics test materials are available for pupils with hearing impairment and pupils who use sign language. 

 What modified tests are available for Key Stage 1?

Modified large print (MLP) and Braille versions for all tests are available for children with visual impairment and special educational needs.

You must decide which tests are most appropriate based on the materials normally used by these pupils in the classroom.  

 When can I order modified tests?

You can order modified tests from Monday 1 October 2012 until Friday 30 November 2012 in the Test orders section of the NCA tools website.
 

 When will I receive my Key Stage 1 modified test order?

Modified test materials will be delivered in February 2013, at the same time as the standard test materials.
