The phonics screening check will be administered during the week commencing 16 June 2014.
To help prepare for the phonics screening check, teachers can watch a training video from the Department for Education on Vimeo.
Feedback from the pilot suggested that training on the scoring rules was essential for teachers administering the check to score consistently. It is therefore strongly recommended that all teachers who will be administering the check watch the video.
The sample materials which can be downloaded from this page contain information about the structure and content of the check.
Teachers and headteachers should read the 2014 key stage 1 'Assessment and reporting arrangements' (ARA) which will be published later in September. The ARA sets out the requirements for the phonics screening check and other key stage 1 assessments.
The 2014 'Check administrators' guide' (CAG) will also be available to download from this page in February. The CAG contains important information about what to do before, during and after the check.
