The Red Tape Challenge (RTC) is a process intended to promote a debate on the value of Government regulations and reduce the burden of regulation. Government regulations are being grouped by theme and placed on the Red Tape Challenge website for comment.

Regulations covering Children’s Services will first appear on the RTC website from 26 October and remain on there for four weeks, during which time people may challenge, or support, the continued existence of each one. Areas include:

  • Adoption
  • Looked after children
  • Safeguarding
  • Special Educational Needs
  • Childcare & Early Years
  • Independent schools

Most of the regulations within the children’s services and independent schools theme are already under review, and any debate would feed into the work of these ongoing reviews.
