Dr Elizabeth Passmore took up her post as Chief Schools Adjudicator on 1 November 2011.

She has been an adjudicator since 2004, and served as interim Chief Schools Adjudicator for three months at the beginning of 2009. 

During her time as an adjudicator she has worked on cases covering all areas of the Office of the School Adjudicator’s (OSA) remit and gained a thorough understanding of the work of the OSA.

Prior to joining the adjudicators in 2004, Elizabeth worked as a science teacher and HM Inspector of Schools, transferring to Ofsted when it was established in 1992. She was Head of the School Improvement Division for six years and finally Director of Inspection, responsible for the inspection of schools and local authorities.
