Set out below is an outline of the type of information that the DfEE will be asking LEAs to provide in the form of NGfL progress reports in May 2001. The data will be collected electronically and will be used to help monitor progress towards the baseline.
Basic LEA information
1.  Contact officer details and Internet address of LEA home page, through which its current ICT plan, and any digital learning resources developed using NGfL funding, may be freely accessed. (Links to this may be made from the NGfL website.)
2.  A costed breakdown of all NGfL Standards Fund grants retained centrally by the LEA for the purposes defined in this guidance.
School-related information
3.  Separately for each category of maintained school (primary, secondary, special):
a.  The number of schools at or above the baseline level for computer: pupil ratios, and the average ratio in these schools.
b.  The number of schools below the baseline level for computer: pupil ratios, the average ratio in these schools, and the total number of pupils in these schools.
c.  The number connected to the Internet, and of these, the number with broadband connections (i.e. 2 Mbs or faster)?
d.  The average number of computers per school with access to the Internet for curriculum purposes, and of these, the average number which are networked?
e.  The average number of computers per school with access to the Internet for school management purposes, and of these, the average number which are networked?
f.  The number of schools that have achieved all elements of the NGfL baseline.
g.  The number of schools that have benefited from Part B funding and the amount of funding allocated for each of the following categories of activity: [categories to be defined].
4.  If they have not already done so, how does the LEA plan to ensure that all of its schools reach the NGfL baseline by 31 August 2002?
