Working together, supported by government, and building on your feedback, the Social Work Reform Board has developed the tools that will drive up levels of social work practice and improve services for children, adults and families. These tools will be owned and promoted by organisations within the social work sector.

At the end of last year the Reform Board published draft proposals. We asked for feedback from the people who would use and benefit from these tools on the ground, including social workers, service users and carers.

We received individual and group responses from all over the country. You told us what you liked and what could be better. You provided ideas about how we could implement the final products most effectively and suggested ways that existing barriers could be overcome.

Within the next year we will have a Chief Social Worker operating at the heart of Government, shaping national policy and keeping social work firmly on the agenda. We will also have a fully independent College of Social Work acting in the best interests of its members, championing the social work profession and improving standards of practice.

Social work is changing for the better and it is up to all of us to build on this unique opportunity for positive and lasting reform.
