Welcome to The UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS)

The UK Council for Child Internet Safety brings together over 170 organisations and individuals from government, industry, law enforcement, academia and charities, including parenting groups. Our aim is to work in partnership to keep children and young people safe online.

The work of UKCCIS is overseen by an Executive Board which sets the strategic direction and determines the priority areas of work for the Council. The Board is chaired jointly by Tim Loughton MP , Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families and Lynne Featherstone MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Equalities and Criminal Information.

All members of UKCCIS have a role to play in keeping children and young people safe online but parents are ultimately best placed to teach their children how to engage with technology in a safe and rewarding way. UKCCIS is working through eight separate project groups to increase parental awareness of the behaviours they and their families can use to keep themselves safe online. UKCCIS is also working to improve the resources available to schools to teach children about how to use the internet safety and build their resilience to potentially inappropriate content that they may encounter online and how to avoid it.
