This is statutory guidance for:

  • local authorities
  • NHS England
  • clinical commissioning groups
  • social workers
  • independent reviewing officers
  • frontline practitioners

It aims to support local authorities and the NHS to meet the health needs of all looked-after children.

The guidance supersedes the 2002 guidance ‘Promoting the health of looked-after children’. It will be reviewed in autumn 2014.
