Effective leadership in education has a demonstrable impact on learner achievement. Therefore, as part of the Success for All reform agenda, the DfES Standards Unit has put in place a strategy to support leadership development in the learning and skills sector. The cornerstone of this strategy is the Centre for Excellence in Leadership, a new leadership college for the sector. This consultation sought views on progress made so far and in particular on: the Centre’s programmes and services; the creation of a leadership development framework that will inform organisational development and individual career planning; succession planning; and mentoring and coaching.
Responses to the consultation have been positive and generally supportive. The Standards Unit and Centre are taking account of these responses in the further development of the strategy and of the Centre’s portfolio of programmes.
Consultation results, when available, will appear here.
