qualifications listed above are appropriate to be counted in the qualified staff
ratio at level 6. Practitioners holding these qualifications
should, depending on the extent which their training specifically covered working
with babies, toddlers and young children under the age of five, consider the
need for additional training.

Early Years Foundation Stage qualification requirements in the
maintained and independent schools sector
The following teaching assistant and supporting teaching and learning awards are
considered full and relevant where the practioner achieved them and had their
practice assessed in the EYFS in the maintained sector.
• Level 3 National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) for Teaching
• Level 3 National Diploma in Specialist Support in Teaching and Learning
• Higher Level Teaching Assistant Status
• Foundation Degree in Supporting Learning
